Home video is great. But nothing compares to a theater or drive-in. A home theater or movies on the lawn can come close. And both can be done on a budget.

You have a TV and DVD player. Add surround sound with a speaker set. I started with a $100 home theater in a box. Then upgrade and decorate as your budget allows.
Dedicated home theater are ideal. But I have always used my living room. Interior rooms work best. But blinds and drapes can be used. This should ghet you started.
My goal is movies on the lawn. But you may want to enjoy movies from your deck, swimming pool or your drive-way. If so, I recommend projectors of 2000 lumens or greater.
